Martin J Silverman-President/Sales Manager
Martin started the company in 2001 after graduating from Purdue University with his Bachelors in Landscape Design and Horticulture. Like most small businesses he began the company by not only selling the work, but also performing it. He started the business as a small 2 man operation and it has since grown steadily over the years to now employ over 45 people. Martin has been married to Katie for a little more than 10 years now and has 2 great kids, Audrey and Jonathan. He has always enjoyed working outside and building projects since he was younger. Martin’s biggest reward is to see a project that the team at Martin John envisioned and developed go from a blank canvas to the final product to a satisfied client for years to come.
Keith Garbacz-Landscape Designer/Sales
Keith has been in the landscape industry since 2002 and been working at Martin John Company since 2006. He has a strong background in the arts which he uses during his main year round responsibilities of landscape plans, renderings, and visual aids for his landscape construction sales. The plans he creates range from being hand drawn to computer generated and 3D CAD models. Keith enjoys meeting with people, creatively solving landscape issues and seeing the end result of his design work. In the winter months he is involved in snow removal management for Martin John. On a personal note Keith is actually an identical twin who considers himself to be an adventurous person that seeks out new experiences, is a self-proclaimed “wanna be” foodie, enjoys the outdoors and spending time with his son.
Mick Greenberg-Maintenance Manager
Mick was born and raised in Highland Park where he lived until moving with his family to Northern Wisconsin at the age of 17. After living in the north woods for close to 10 years, Mick made his way back to Illinois and that is when his landscaping career took root. He has been involved in every aspect of landscape maintenance from crew member, to running a crew, spray applicator, multiple-crew supervision, running the entire department, and being very hands on in training crews the proper way to maintain a property to its fullest potential. Living locally in Libertyville with his wife, 2 boys and their pets, Mick enjoys listening to all types of music in his free time.
Matt grew up and has lived in Mundelein practically his whole life which has let him come to know and love Chicago in the summer. That is what drew him to working in the green industry almost 20 years ago. Be it fall colors, spring or summer blooms or even the interesting bark on some plants in the winter, working outdoors in the different seasons makes for an interesting and ever changing landscape environment as a workplace. Matt has studied and worked in all facets of landscaping with his emphasis in design/build projects and aquatics. When he isn’t at work he and his wife Nikki enjoy the abundant lakes, golf courses, forest preserves and open spaces that the area has to offer. Matt is also an avid fisherman, organic gardener, and as an aside raises Berkshire pigs at a local farm in Grayslake.
